Antioxidants and probiotics are both substances that have strong health benefits, and they have synergistic interactions when consumed together. This means that the combination of the two substances have an effect that is greater than the sum of their individual effects. One important synergistic interaction between antioxidants and probiotics is that probiotics increases the absorption and effectiveness of the antioxidants.

Antioxidants are substances that help protect your cells from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that are produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to tobacco smoke, radiation, pollution, and too much exercise. These molecules can cause damage to cells, which may lead to the development of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, and high cholesterol. Antioxidants neutralizes free radicals and reduce or prevent the damage they cause.

Antioxidants have a variety of health benefits. Research suggests that consuming a diet high in antioxidants may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, and diabetes. Antioxidants also have anti-inflammatory effects, which are beneficial for reducing the risk of development of arthritis and asthma. Antioxidants slow down the aging process and improve the appearance of the skin as well.

Probiotics are live microorganisms, usually lactic acid bacteria, that are similar to the beneficial microorganisms found in the human gut. They are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they keep the gut healthy.

Scientific evidence shows that probiotics have several health benefits, including improving the balance of bacteria in the gut, reducing the risk of gastrointestinal disorders, and boosting the immune system. Research has also shown that probiotics have other health benefits, such as reducing the risk of infections, improving skin health, and improving the symptoms of conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease.

    Chronic inflammation
is a condition in which the body’s immune system is constantly activated,
leading to a persistent low-grade inflammation. This type of inflammation can
occur in response to various factors, such as infections, toxins, and stress,
and it has been linked to several chronic diseases, including heart disease,
    diabetes, and autoimmune disorders.

    One of the reasons
that chronic inflammation is dangerous is that it can cause damage to cells and
tissues over time. When the immune system is activated, it releases several
substances that can cause inflammation, including cytokines, chemokines, and
prostaglandins. These substances can lead to the production of free radicals,
which can cause oxidative stress and damage to cells and tissues. Chronic
inflammation can also cause the production of certain enzymes that can break
down collagen and other structural proteins, leading to tissue damage and
    scarring.

    In addition, chronic
inflammation may contribute to the development of chronic diseases by affecting
the way that cells grow and divide, by altering the way that genes are
expressed, and by impairing the function of the body’s immune system. Overall,
chronic inflammation is a complex process that can have serious negative
effects on health, and it is important to address any underlying causes of
chronic inflammation to maintain good health.

    The more free radicals
your body is exposed to, the more polyphenols you need. Your body is constantly
exposed to the cell breakdown of free radicals. On one hand, oxidation takes
place all the time in the body when the metabolism in the cells, with the help
of oxygen, burns nutrients to convert the nutrients into energy.

    On the other hand, you
as a modern human being with a busy lifestyle are exposed daily to free
radicals in your immediate surroundings. This is because free radicals come
from air pollution, food, microorganisms, exhaust gases, the sun’s UV rays,
    radioactive radiation, etc.

    Research indicates
that oxidative stress enhances normal aging, among other things in the form of
greater wrinkle formation, because the skin’s collagen and elastin proteins are
damaged. Part of the known muscle soreness stems from the fact that free
radicals break down in the damaged muscle cells.

    Free radicals are also
formed when you drink alcohol, take medication, smoke, or are exposed to
passive smoking, or play sports. In addition, the production of free radicals
increases with age. Without a strong immune system, the body may have
difficulty coping with the load, especially if you also have inflammation
    elsewhere in the body.

    Maqui berry

Most people know that blueberries, black currants,
acai berries, raspberry, and especially aronia berries, contain large amounts
of antioxidants. Most people also know that aronia berries contain approx.
eight times as many antioxidants than blueberries, but only a few have heard
about the biggest super berry, the maqui berry (aristotelia chilensis). Even
fewer people know that the maqui berry contains almost twice as many
antioxidants as aronia berries, which is nearly 16 times as many antioxidants
    as blueberries.

Maqui berries can only be found in the Patagonia
region in Chile, where they grow in the wild. The berries have been known for
centuries by the Chilean Mapuche natives who used the maqui berries to make a
traditional, fermented energy drink meant to give strength and courage to the
    Mapuche tribe warrior.

The Mapuche natives harvest the berries during the
harvesting season, and almost the entire Mapuche community is involved. In
comparison to many other berries that contain antioxidants, maqui berries taste
    good as well.

In Mapuche language, maqui means peaceful intention,
and it is a symbol of goodwill. Today, the maqui berry is still a symbol of
    strength and health.

Many prebiotic foods are not only rich in prebiotic
fiber but also in bitter substances. A lot of bitter substances are
antioxidants. Antioxidants are the common denominator for a long line of
microscopical plant substances and select vitamins and minerals which protect
the body by reinforcing the cells against oxygen damage.

When you eat substances that are meant to protect food
against oxygen damage, they surround the body’s tissue and become a part of the
defense against inflammation and free radicals.

Research has shown that antioxidants have an
anti-inflammatory effect that counteracts the inflammation in the blood
vessels, formation of atherosclerosis, and it lowers the blood pressure as the
elasticity of the blood vessels increases.

    Rosehip AP-4

    Our active rosehip
ingredient is manufactured from a selected variety of the dog rose Rosa canina
AP-4®. Rosa canina AP-4® is a single variety cultivated in organic certified
plantations in the south of Chile.

Optimal climate conditions and controlled cultivation methods are key factors
for manufacturing a top-quality and standardized AP-4® Rosehip.

To meet the increasing demands for AP-4® Rosehip, the plantation cultivations
have been extended with AP-4® plants nursed in green-house, latest in 2020 and
2021. AP-4® rosehips are harvested at an optimal ripening time when the content
of polyphenols are at the highest level.

Rosehips contains antioxidants, as well as other nutrients such as vitamin
C, flavonoids, carotenoids, galactolipids and tannins. Research shows that
these nutrients have anti-inflammatory properties and helpful in reducing
    inflammation in the body.

Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory condition that causes pain, stiffness,
and swelling in the joints. Studies have shown that the antioxidants and other
nutrients found in rosehips have a protective effect against inflammation and
helpful in reducing the severity of rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. Further health
benefits associated with the dog rosehip include:

    Reducing inflammation:
Research shows that rosehips have anti-inflammatory properties and helpful
in reducing inflammation in the body.

    Improving skin health:
Rosehips are a good source of antioxidants, which help protect the skin
from damage caused by free radicals and may improve the appearance of the
    skin.

    Probiotics

The lactic acid bacterial strain (Lactobacillus
Plantarum 6595) is one of the most studied and best described strains, both in
terms of clinical animal experiments and in vitro studies.

Lactobacillus Plantarum 6595 can survive the passage
through the acidic environment of the stomach, they can colonize the mucous
cells in the intestinal system and increase the effectiveness of the
polyphenols by increasing the degree of absorption of the polyphenols.

Lactic acid bacteria have nothing to do with milk but
refer to the fact that the bacteria produce lactic acid when they ferment the
medium in which they grow. The Lactobacillus Plantarum 6595 strain is vegan and
does not contain animal products – nor have animal products been used as a
    growth medium.

A fun fact about the term lactic acid bacteria, or the
perhaps more accurate term probiotics, is that probiotics is Greek for “For
    Life”.

    Almonds

Almonds taste good and they are extremely healthy. The
majority of the known polyphenols are water-soluble, while the rest are
fat-soluble. The fat-soluble polyphenols are difficult to get enough of through
diet alone, but they are found in, for example, almonds. Almonds also contain
vitamin E, dietary fibers, and healthy unsaturated fatty acids.

    Chocolate

This dietary supplement contains only chocolate which
only consists of cocoa mass, cocoa butter, milk, lecithin, and sugar. Nothing
else. Cocoa butter is the expensive and difficult ingredient in chocolate. This
is why many manufacturers want to replace cocoa butter with animal fats to
lower the price and make the chocolate easier to handle. It simply requires
less skills to use chocolate of lower quality such as chocolates made with
    animal fats.

    This product
should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet and healthy lifestyle. Do
not exceed the stated recommended daily intake. Keep out of reach of children.
    Store cool and dry place.
